Our Programming Philosophies...
Television is educational.
Lakeshore Public Television believes that television can teach, and should do so while remaining entertaining and inspiring. Our children's programming, with shows like Clifford the Big Red Dog and Maya and Miguel, feeds kids' minds. And since we know that the desire to learn burns in so many of our adult viewers too, we offer programs such as Nova and Nature, as well as countless documentaries from the likes of Ken Burns.
Television is enlightening.
Lakeshore Public Television understands that real entertainment does not appeal to the lowest common denominator; instead we strive to provide programming that engages the minds and imaginations of our viewers at any age. We schedule shows like American Masters and American Experience to ensure a culturally rich program schedule.
Television is informational.
Lakeshore Public Television realizes that broadcasting is an influential medium with the power to encourage viewers to think and act beyond their normal boundaries. Some programs like Charlie Rose do this playfully, while others, Newshour with Jim Lehrer for example, take the mission to motivate the audience very seriously.
