Volunteer at Lakeshore Public Television!
Thank you for interest in volunteering with us. Lakeshore Public Television relies on the support of community volunteers in various capacities throughout the year. Here are some ways we could use your help:
Lakeshore Kids Immunization Fair
This day of free vaccinations, food, entertainment and health education is held in August to get kids ready for a new school year. Join us at U.S. Steel Yard, home of the Gary Railcats, for this day of fun for the whole family. Volunteers are needed to assist in distributing book bags, registering attendees, handing out lunches and monitoring activity lines.
Speaking of Women's Health Conference
Speaking of Women's Health is Lakeshore PTV's largest fundraiser, held annually at the Radisson Hotel at Star Plaza. The conference requires the help of more than 75 volunteers to be successful. Duties range from registration, bag distribution, people moving, breakfast & lunch set-up and tear down, session monitors, and more.
Holiday Gift Auction
Held annually in November, our three-day Holiday Gift Auction raises more than $50,000 for Lakeshore Public Television. Volunteer duties could include food station maintenance, phone banks, bid running & sorting, phone confirmation, and more. Must be 16 years of age or older.
Telemarketing Campaigns
Donations made by viewers in the community make up a significant portion of revenue for Lakeshore Public Television. It may be necessary to call on past supporters to ensure they haven't overlooked their annual donation. Volunteers work with staff to make the calls that make a difference in our funding!
Monthly Mailings
Lakeshore Public Television keeps in close contact with those who financially support the station. We coordinate two very large annual mailings (one in January, the other in June) and we also mail monthly membership reminders. Volunteers are needed to execute and expedite these processes.

Live Pledge Phone Banks
We often look to outside volunteers to answers phones when we're televising a live pledge drive. These opportunities could include prep sports pledges, college basketball pledges, The Holiday Gift Auction, Speaking of Women's Health ticket sales, and more. Volunteers answer the phones and record pledges. Must be 16 years of age or older.
Other Special Events
As needed.
