Position: Production Intern - Historical Projects

Department: Production

Lakeshore Public Television is accepting candidates for Historical Projects Production Intern.  We are looking for those who have an interest in making documentaries and will assist the Historical Projects Producer in research, production, and development of projects.  Duties will range from transcribing interviews to assisting on film shoots. Experience evaluating and organizing primary and secondary sources, desktop scanning, and researching via the internet a plus.   Major in History or Television Production would be preferred.

Position: Production Intern - Promotions

Department: Production

Lakeshore Public Television is accepting applications for a Production Intern for Promotions.  The intern will have the opportunity to work closely with the Production Manager and Marketing Director to create promotional spots for original productions and network feeds for broadcast and the web. Looking for a strong creative mind with solid writing and editing skills, and experience in Final Cut Pro and Photoshop is preferred.

Position: Sports Production Intern

Department: Production

Lakeshore Sports is looking for a Production Intern focusing on sports production for the fall / winter.  The intern will be able to perform a variety of duties such as running camera, going over footage to choose highlights, interviewing coaches and players, and assisting the sports production team with high school and college sports productions. Looking for a dependable, hard-working sports enthusiast with experience running studio and field cameras and post-production experience is a plus but not required.

Position: Marketing Internship (one semester)

Department: Marketing & Special Events

Responsibilities: Intern duties may include, but are not limited to: utilizing a variety of computer software, writing press releases, performing website updates, participating in direct mail efforts, planning and working corporate and community events, developing multimedia presentations, research, and database management. Mature and professional conduct expected. Internship is available to juniors/seniors, 20 hours a week (work hours are negotiable). Media writing experience preferred.

Position: News Internship (one semester)

Department: News Department

Responsibilities: This internship is designed for a student who is interested in a news position, especially with the evening news. Duties include, but are not limited to: greeting guests, writing tip sheets, escorting guests to and from interview site, researching and locating archive footage, shooting or logging video. Interns will communicate closely with News Director, Executive Producer, reporters, and the production staff. Intern may also be asked to write scripts for newscast, and so must possess strong writing skills. Student will be taught how to edit video using linear desktop editing system. Must be available to work from 8 - 40 hours per week. Available to juniors/seniors or recent graduates with degree or suitable course work in journalism. Mature and professional conduct expected. Previous interns have been hired by the News Department.

Position: News Writing Internship (one semester)

Department: News Department

Responsibilities: Intern learns the duties of a TV news writer. Write scripts for newscast, edit video using linear desktop editing system, and communicate closely with reporters, producers and editors. Must possess strong writing skills. Must be available to work from 8 - 40 hours per week. Available to juniors/seniors or recent graduates with degree or suitable course work in journalism. Mature and professional conduct expected. Previous interns have been hired by the News Department.

Position: Sports Internship (one semester)

Department: Under the supervision of the News Department

Responsibilities: This internship is designed for a student who is interested in a sports position, especially with the evening news. Duties include, but are not limited to: researching and locating local sports stories of interest, as well as archiving footage. May also include shooting or logging video. Interns will communicate closely with News and Sports Director, Executive Producer, reporters, and the production staff. Intern may also be asked to write scripts, and so must possess strong writing skills. Student will be taught how to edit video using linear desktop editing system. Must be available to work 8 - 40 hours per week. Available to juniors/seniors or recent graduates with degree or suitable course work in journalism. Mature and professional conduct expected. Previous interns have been hired by the News Department.

Position: Weather Internship (one semester)

Department: Under the supervision of the News Department

Responsibilities: This internship is designed for students interested in or already pursuing a future in meteorology. The internship requires either a major or minor in a local meteorology or life sciences program. Duties include: climate research, gathering important weather data, editing web page text and graphics. Other possible duties: write weather-related scripts for newscast, edit video using linear desktop editing system. Will communicate closely with reporters, producers and editors. Must possess strong writing and communication skills. Must be available to work from 8 - 40 hours per week. Available to juniors/seniors or recent graduates. Mature and professional conduct expected.
